Strategic Non-Cooperation to Fight Authoritarianism

They are flooding the zone. The “big ugly bill” severely harms the most vulnerable among us and endangers our planet while transferring our money to billionaires and - worst of all – creating a massive budget for ICE to step up its kidnapping of whomever ICE decides to grab. In this head-spinning time of BOTH horrific assaults on our democracy and our neighbors, it’s hard to focus on next steps.

There has been promising action in the lower courts, but lately the Supreme Court has acted as an enabler of this regime. And as you know, other institutions with power and resources have "obeyed in advance," or worse, become fully complicit (we see you, Congress). 

Congress will not save us.

The courts will not save us. 

We are the only ones who can save us.

Here’s where your commitment to resist oligarchy, authoritarianism, and tyranny shines. We will not give in or give up. And we’re stronger together!

Our resistance is growing. There were more than five million of us in the streets on No Kings Day! That is amazing! Yet, to overcome this regime, we will have to double our numbers of committed resistors.

How?  Indivisible has a great suggestion:

Indivisible is organizing three virtual trainings, "One Million Rising: Strategic Non-Cooperation to Fight Authoritarianism" – a recipe to delay, defy, and help defeat Trump.

To defeat Trump and MAGA, we have to mobilize more people, and do it on a sustained basis – not just a one-day protest. That’s where One Million Rising comes in.

The training is in three sessions: July 16, July 30 and August 13 at 8PM ET.

The success of an authoritarian takeover depends on a population choosing to comply. Experts such as Harvard’s Erica Chenoweth who have studied transitions to fascism say that it only takes about 3.5% of the population practicing non-cooperation to make it impossible for a regime to implement fascist ideals (such as Project 2025). 

Indivisible's goal is to train one million resistors. If we can motivate, train, and equip this movement in the practice of strategic non-cooperation, we can disrupt, delay, and even, at times, make it impossible for this administration to enact corrupt policy.
